For anyone moving home can be a stressful time, but for those who are parents there exists the added responsibility of finding a suitable school for their children.
This is further complicated when you are contemplating a move to a foreign country. The lack of local knowledge, the language and cultural barriers and the potential cost are all complicating factors. Careful research about the area is vital in finding the right school for your child.
In the Costa de la Luz, as elsewhere in southern Spain there are state schools as well as Independent schools. In addition there are short term, intensive Spanish language schools. Parents are advised that the number and choice of Independent International schools is not as broad as the Costa del Sol, for example. This is due in primarily to the larger expatriate demand in these areas and the fact that the Costa del la Luz is a much less developed region for tourism and overseas property buyers. Information on local state schools can be found here (Spanish Government Education website).
