Reality TV is here to stay, and the high priests of the format, Endemol, who brought us Big Brother and Space Cadets, are set to serve up another fatuous dose of reality TV next month.

This time, mechanics are the target in a six-part factual entertainment series named The Garage'.

Their press release explains: "English Mobile Mechanics is located in down-town Marbella and is run by Jock, a no-nonsense, charismatic tough guy who left his native Scotland 18 years ago amid personal anguish to open up the garage on a shoestring budget."

One of Jock's mechanics and stars of the show is Wayne Browning from Potters Bar, a practical joker who went to Mount Grace School, described as a bit of a geezer'.

A press officer for the Discovery Channel, which is broadcasting the show, said: "Wayne is a Potters Bar lad through and through, having been raised in the area and still living there today.

"Many of his family work in the car industry, including his father who runs a tyre company."
